For a pet photo metal print, work from the highest-resolution original, check genuine focus on the eyes, inspect fur, motion and compression at 100%, and protect ears, whiskers and paws in the final crop. Choose finish for real room light and place the selected desk-only or wall-only format where the animal cannot knock, chew or scratch it.

A pet portrait succeeds when it feels recognisable to the people who know the animal. Expression and behaviour matter, but the file must also survive the selected crop and enlargement.

Start With Safety and Familiar Behaviour

Do not force a pet into an unfamiliar pose or location for a print. Use a calm, familiar setting and stop if the animal shows stress. Food, toys, sounds and flash should be safe for that species and individual; when in doubt, avoid them.

For a new photograph:

  • clean the camera or phone lens;
  • use soft daylight or another comfortable light source;
  • focus on the nearer eye;
  • choose a shutter speed that can stop the animal’s movement;
  • take several short bursts rather than one prolonged session; and
  • include a slightly wider frame so the final crop has room around ears, tail and paws.

An eye-level viewpoint can feel direct, but only use it where the animal, handler and equipment remain safe.

Select the Actual Original

Compare several frames at 100%. Check:

  1. focus on the eye and face;
  2. movement in whiskers, ears, paws and tail;
  3. clipped highlight detail in white fur;
  4. blocked or smeared texture in dark fur;
  5. digital zoom and low-light processing;
  6. compression around fine hair; and
  7. distracting objects at the crop boundary.

Use the camera or phone original rather than a screenshot, social-media download or message attachment when the original exists. A high pixel count is useful for planning, but it cannot restore missed focus or texture removed by processing.

Choose a Portrait Structure

Close portrait

The eyes and expression carry the image. Leave enough room around ears and fur, and check that shallow depth of field has not left the nose or nearer eye unintentionally soft.

Environmental portrait

The animal’s bed, garden or walking place adds context. Make sure the pet remains legible after the final crop and that private addresses or strangers are not reproduced unintentionally.

Action frame

Motion can be expressive, but distinguish intentional movement from missed focus. Inspect paws, eyes and background panning at 100%.

Pet with a person

Check consent and protect both faces and hands in the crop. A photographer’s online proof is not automatically licensed for printing; obtain the authorised original.

Several pets

Choose a frame where every important face is acceptably focused. Composite editing can help only when it is done transparently and the result does not misrepresent the scene.

Match the Crop to a Current Format

  • The Keepsake Trio: three 13×9 cm desk prints with three separate metal stands, sold only as the complete desk set.
  • The Legacy Print Classic: 30×20 cm wall print with an included tool-free magnetic wall-mount kit for a compatible indoor wall.
  • The Legacy Print Statement: 42×30 cm wall print with an included tool-free magnetic wall-mount kit for a compatible indoor wall.
  • The Cinematic Print range: 21×14, 30×20 and 42×30 cm wall-only formats with an included tool-free magnetic wall-mount kit for a compatible indoor wall.

The three panels in The Keepsake Trio can show different animals, three stages of one life or three views from one session. A wall format gives one frame more scale. Set the exact product crop and protect the eyes, ears, whiskers, paws and any object central to the story.

Make full-size paper outlines in the intended room. A size that looks prominent on a desk may be too small for a wide wall, while a 42×30 cm print is not universally “large.”

Choose Finish for Light, Not Breed

Glossy reflects more light and can emphasise apparent contrast and colour. Matte looks softer and reduces reflections, although some remain. Neither finish creates fur detail absent from the source or guarantees a particular coat will reproduce accurately.

Check the wall in daylight and with lamps on. If a window reflection crosses the eyes, matte may reduce the distraction or a different wall may work better. The configurator helps with crop, orientation, size and finish but is not a colour-accurate physical proof.

Handle Memorial Images Carefully

For an older digital image, locate the original file. For a physical photograph, make a careful scan, keep an untouched master and restore on a copy. Inspect any automated restoration around eyes, teeth, whiskers and fur because generated detail may change the animal’s appearance.

Ask before giving a memorial print. There is no universally appropriate date, subject or format. If displaying the print with a candle or other heat source, keep a safe separation and follow fire-safety guidance; the print should not be exposed to heat, smoke or wax.

Install and Care for the Print

Legacy and Cinematic wall formats each include a tool-free magnetic wall-mount kit for a compatible dry indoor wall. Follow the supplied instructions and hang the print exactly 1 minute after installing the kit. Compatibility is not universal.

Place The Keepsake Trio on a stable desk or shelf beyond the animal’s reach and away from the edge.

Standard photo prints are indoor products with no UV laminate. Keep them away from prolonged direct sunlight, splash zones, persistent humidity and outdoor exposure. Remove loose dust before wiping with a clean soft microfibre cloth; avoid abrasive and harsh cleaners.

If Bolot suggests a meaningful crop or correction, it waits up to five business days. Approval makes that proposal the production reference. Without a reply, production uses the original crop submitted with the order, not the unapproved suggestion.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a desk or shelf, The Keepsake Trio contains three 13×9 cm prints and three separate metal stands. The Legacy Print Classic 30×20 cm and The Legacy Print Statement 42×30 cm are wall formats. The Cinematic (21×14 cm), The Cinematic Print Classic (30×20 cm) and The Cinematic Print Statement (42×30 cm) are wall-only. Measure the real indoor display area and inspect the configured crop.

It may be suitable, but phone age and megapixels do not decide the result. Focus, movement, light, digital zoom, compression, crop and output size all matter. Upload the highest-resolution original, not a screenshot or messaging-app copy, and inspect the exact crop at 100%.

Use safe, comfortable light, focus on the nearer eye, take several frames and keep the session short enough for the animal. Work at the pet’s level when safe, but do not force a pose, use an unsafe flash, noise, food or location, or sacrifice handling and welfare for the photograph.

Keep it beyond chewing, scratching and collision reach. The Legacy Print Classic, The Legacy Print Statement and all Cinematic wall formats each include their own magnetic kit for a compatible dry indoor wall. Follow the supplied instructions and hang each print exactly 1 minute after kit installation.

Neither is universally better. Glossy reflects more light and can emphasise apparent contrast; matte looks softer and reduces reflections, although some remain. Genuine fur and eye detail comes from the file, not the finish. Check the intended room light before choosing.

Yes. Find the camera original or make a careful scan, preserve an untouched master and restore only on a copy. Ask the recipient before giving a sensitive memorial image, and avoid promising that one medium preserves the memory for a fixed number of years.

Verified quality support lets you report a manufacturing defect, transit damage, or wrong size, finish, or personalisation promptly after discovering the issue. This is an additional support channel only and does not shorten any applicable statutory period or remedy. A conforming personalised product is not eligible for a voluntary change-of-mind return. If Bolot approves a physical return, Bolot covers the return cost and provides instructions.
